here - five minute friday #fmfparty

You walk in. Turn left or right. That's it. Simple. (and yes, I love jingle bells too much to put them away.)

You walk in. Turn left or right. That's it. Simple. (and yes, I love jingle bells too much to put them away.)

It started out as this blank slate for our young family.  We watched it transform from dirt with wooden stakes to mark territory into walls, a roof and doors.  Almost eleven years later, here we still are.  Edges are worn, paint has been painted over, rooms have been assigned and re-assigned.  It is a modest space, in its size and esthetic, when compared to the homes in our surrounding area and network.  But it’s just right for me, this inanimate thing that has grown up with us.  With as much noise, personality and love we keep filling it up with, it never fails to accommodate.

I love it here.

relief – five minute friday #fmfparty

If I have painted a picture of myself in this blog as a tireless working wife and mother of three who cooks well and bakes and plans meals and never has overflowing hampers and has taken a bath daily for the last 17 years, I apologize. I am a liar.

I do not have it all together.  And there are countless days when I am on my way home from work without a clue about what I’m going to feed my brood in two hours.  I may have run red lights trying to figure this out, I don’t know.

And then God does His sweet, precious “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’….I know you need these things” (Matthew 6:31-32) and has my mother-in-law call me and tell me to pass by her house on the way home because she made an extra batch of spaghetti or something.  The Lord has provided grace and relief in this area for me in the form of this wonderful woman who never stops moving when she’s in a kitchen.

I love them so.
